Abstract

The primary focus of this study revolves around a grave international transgression - child pornography. Recent legislative action in Lebanon has led to the inclusion of measures addressing this offense within the framework of the Electronic Transactions and Personal Data Act of October 18, 2018. Article 120 of this act has supplanted the previous articles 535 and 536 of the Penal Code, introducing novel provisions titled "Exploitation of Minors in Pornographic Materials."

It is undeniable that this legal action harmonizes with the broader spectrum of sustainable development objectives, with specific emphasis on Goal 16: "Fostering peaceful and inclusive societies to achieve sustainable development, ensuring access to justice for all, and establishing effective and accountable institutions at all levels." This criminalization not only aligns with all 17 sustainable development goals but also places particular importance on Goal 16.

This initiative falls within the overarching scope of the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan, serving as a universal roadmap for upholding human dignity, nurturing peace, and cultivating prosperity for both humanity and the planet, both presently and in the future. As we mark four years since the inception of the plan's implementation, the Republic of Lebanon is actively engaged in translating this shared vision into tangible national development strategies and plans.
