Judge Professor Fehr Abdel-Azim Emara joined the Public Prosecution in Egypt in 1998 until he took the Bench in 2004. As Judge and Presiding Judge, he worked in several diverse court circuits competent for the civil, commercial, and economic litigations. From 1998 till now, he held numerous of judicial positions in the Egyptian Courts System. He currently retains the position of President of the Economic Court of Appeal, Egypt.

Thanks to his profound experience as judge at commercial, Economic, and civil state courts, his relevant higher academic studies in Egypt and abroad, the pertinent books and researches he published, and his academic experience as a Professor of Law, he is frequently appointed as an arbitrator to settle arbitral disputes spanning the international commercial and investment spectrum. He is rostered on many international institutions of Arbitration e.g., London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), Arbitration Center of the States of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Istanbul Arbitration Center (ISTAC) and Cairo Regional Center for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA).

In terms of his Academic Experience:

He is working as Part-Time Professor at the Faculty of Law, British University in Egypt (BUE) since 2016. As Professor (Module Leader), he is responsible for teaching several mandatory modules at BUE in two languages: Arabic and English nonetheless, he is effectively trilingual, speaking Arabic (mother tongue), English, and French. Each academic year, he supervises numerous of graduation dissertations. More and above, he is the responsible for the Moot-Court program in civil and commercial disputes that takes place at BUE.

Judge Prof. Fehr Emara has a significant experience in the legal university teaching since 2007. He worked as Research Auxiliary at Faculty of Law, Laval University, Canada from 2010 to 2015. 

The field of his scientific and academic specialization spans Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Civil Procedures Law, Commercial Law, Contract Law, Corporation Law, International Private Law, Methodology, and Epistemology.

Judge Prof. Fehr Emara has widely published several books and articles written in French and Arabic.

He earned, In 2016, his Doctorate (LL.D.) in International Commercial Arbitration and comparative civil procedure Law from Faculty of Law, Laval University, Canada. 

In 2008, he held his master’s degree in International Commercial Legal Transactions from Arab Academy for Science and Technology in Cairo. 

In 1996, Judge Prof. Fehr Emara graduated from Police Academy in Egypt where he earned his Bachelor of Law and Police Science.

Dr. Atlam is an Egyptian judge who currently serves as the Chief Justice of the Cairo Court of Appeal, one of the eight Egyptian Courts of Appeal. He was previously seconded from the Egyptian judiciary to the Kuwait Court of Appeal for a period of 6 years. He is also a regional expert in International Humanitarian Law (IHL).

Dr. Atlam progressed in the judiciary, where he held several positions from Counselor to the Cairo Courts of Appeal to the Vice-President of the Mansoura Court of Appeals until he was appointed as the Chief Justice at the Courts of Appeal in July 2011.

Dr. Atlam was theTechnical Adviser to the Kuwaiti Permanent Committee on IHL from 2015 to June 2021. He also worked for the International Committee of the Red Cross as the Regional Coordinator of the Advisory Services from July 2001 until September 2008, and as a seconded Regional Advisor alongside his judicial work from October 2008 until September 2013.

Dr. Atlam is a member of many societies and committees. He has been the Assistant Secretary-General of the Egyptian Association of Criminal Law from 2002 until now. He is also a member of the advisory body of the Supreme Committee for Human Rights at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the advisory board of the International Journal of Jurisprudence and the Judiciary, the International Association of Penal Law and the advisory board of the Bahraini Journal of Human Rights/the National Institution for Human Rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the follow-up committee for the implementation of IHL at the Arab level. He is also an expert lecturer at the United Nations Development Program in Egypt training public prosecutors in the field of human rights.

Dr. Atlam held the position of National Coordinator for the program of Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights, Italy, held in coordination with the Swedish Cooperation Agency for Training of Trainers in the field of human rights and international criminal justice for the benefit of the members of the Egyptian Courts of Cassation and Public Prosecution from 2016 to 2018. He was also a member of the Egyptian National Law Committee on International Humanitarian Law from 2001 to 2018.

Dr. Atlam contributed to the legislations and decisions establishing the National Committees on IHL in Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Kuwait, UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Sudan. He also prepared the draft model Arab law of crimes within the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, which was approved by the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice and contributed to the preparation of several relevant draft laws in Sudan, Egypt, Morocco, Kuwait, draft laws  on the protection of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent emblems in Egypt, Morocco, Kuwait, Sudan, Algeria, and draft laws on the protection of cultural property in times of armed conflict in Egypt and Kuwait.

Dr. Atlam holds a PhD in International Law from Cairo University, and a master's degree in private law from the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University. In addition, he holds an in-depth diploma in French from the French Ministry of Education in 1993.

Judge Dr. Mohamed Hany Elghanam

Is an Egyptian judge who currently serves as an appellate judge at the Cairo Court of Appeal, one of Egypt’s eight courts of appeal. He is also the Constitutional Advisor for the Yemen programme at IDEA International. He was seconded from the Egyptian judiciary to the United Nations for 11 years (2005-2011) to work in different capacities. During 2013-2016, Elghannam headed the UNSMIL’s (The United Nations Support Mission in Libya) Constitutional Support Team that supported the Libyan Constituent Assembly through drafting the Libyan Constitution as well as being the Principal Political Officer for the mission and helped facilitating the Libyan Political Agreement (Skhirat Agreement - 2015) between the two parties of the Libyan conflict. Previously, Elghannam served for a year as the Director of the Rule of Law and Governance Programme at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Somalia, where he managed a team of more than 70 national and international staff that implemented several projects of a budget of US $60 million throughout various duty stations in Somalia. During the years of 2009-2012, he also worked with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Iraq as Director of the Governance Team and as Senior Advisor to the Rule of Law and Judicial Reform Program, which implemented various programs to support the Iraqi judiciary. During the years (2006-2009), Elghannam worked as a constitutional and legal advisor to the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq, where he worked on the process of drafting the current Iraqi constitution and the challenges of its review. Before his secondment to the UN, Elghannam started his career as a Public Prosecutor and a police officer. 

Elghannam holds a PhD in International Law from Durham University, England, and an LL.M. in International Legal Studies from the American University, Washington College of Law, USA. In addition, he holds a masters degree in international human rights law from the American University in Cairo and a bachelor's degree in law from the Egyptian Police Academy. 

Elghannam has previously lectured and given presentations for various training courses in the fields of law, political science and the protection of human rights. He was also selected for various scholarships and fellowships including the Hubert Humphrey Fellowship (2004-2005) and the Fulbright Visiting Specialists Program “Direct Access to the Islamic World,” which is a short-term program of intensive lectures, engagement with the American public, and consultation aimed at enhancing Americans' understanding of Islamic civilization, history, politics, and culture of both the Arab and Islamic worlds.

He is an Egyptian presiding judge at the Cairo Court of Appeal. He holds PhD and master’s degrees in law from the Washington College of Law (USA), a master’s degree in law from King's College London (UK).

He is an alumnus of Hubert Humphrey Fellowship in Legal and Judicial Reform (Fulbright Program, USA), and he holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the Faculty of Law, Cairo University.

He studied financial market laws at Harvard University, the University of Delaware and the National Authority of Securities Dealers (NASD) (USA), the University of Reading (UK), and institutional risk management at George Washington University,

Furthermore, he is a researcher in the fields of history and archeology. He graduated with honors from the University College London (UCL) with a master’s degree in Arab and Islamic world archaeology.

He studied Arabic papyrology at Princeton University and was a guest researcher at Leiden University. He also earned a master's degree in Arab and Islamic studies (MPHIL) from the University of Exeter (UK), where he is currently a doctoral researcher at the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies (IAIS), and he is a member of the Centre for Islamic Archaeology. Moreover, he studied Coptic language, Christian art, and archaeology at the Centro Culturale Francescano in Egypt.

He was previously seconded by the Egyptian judiciary as an expert and legal advisor to work outside Egypt in several countries, international organizations, and foreign governmental institutions, including the United Nations (international law expert in the Security Council Committee of Experts), the Capital Market Authority (QFMA), the Anti-Doping Authority (ADLQ), and the co-chair of the Scientific Research Ethics Committee in Medical Experiments (IRB) (Qatar) and the International Development Law Organization (IDLO).

In addition to his Arabic native language, he studied English, Spanish, German, French, Persian, and ancient languages like Coptic, Greek, and Syriac.

Later, he joined the Academia and progressed therein until he was appointed as the President of Mansoura University in 2011. In 2014, he was appointed as the Minister of High Education in the Egyptian Government. Beside this professional progression, he completed a set of academic degrees; after graduating with a Bachelor of law in 1976 from Cairo University with the grade of “very good,” he completed three different diplomas in Law and Economics; later, he completed his PhD at the Keele University in the UK. He also authored a number of books, and an abundance of academic researches and translations.

Professor Mohamed Hefny started his career as a counselor at the state law suite authority. Afterwards, he joined the Faculty of Law – Cairo University where he has held several academic positions starting with “professor of Islamic sharia, then he was promoted to the “head of Islamic sharia department”

He has a significant experience in the legal research filed especially in the Islamic sharia related matters as he was a former member at the “Islamic jurisprudence encyclopedia “of the supreme authority for Islamic affairs in addition to being a former member of the “legal studies and professional training center” at the faculty of law-Cairo University. Moreover, he has authored 32 books in various areas of Islamic law, all published in certified academic journals.

Prof Hefny has also a noticeable influence on the development of the service sector at the faculty of law not only on the graduate level due to his exceptional efforts while he was a member of the supervision and follow-up Commission of the service department as well as his outstanding participation as a member of the “quality control and accreditation center for the educational system’s development”, but has extended also to the post graduate level by appointing him as the director of pot graduate library.

After earning his PHD from al Azhar university, prof Hefny has delivered many lectures and seminars to preachers and mosque imams and at international universities and entities as the faculty of law and Islamic SHARIA-Khartoum branch, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport and the Institute of Arab Research and Studies - League of Arab states beside his current position as  professor of Islamic Shari 'a sciences - School of Islamic Studies - Mohammed bin Zayed University of Humanities.

Prof. Mamdouh Al-Musalami, Professor of Civil Law, is currently working as Dean of the Faculty of Law, Zagazig University.

He worked as a Professor at the Police and Women Police Academy in Kuwait for twelve years, and at the College of Law, Kuwait University.

Prof. Mamdouh Al-Musalami graduated in academic work: he was appointed as a Teaching Assistant in the Civil Law Department, an Assistant Lecturer, a Lecturer, as he obtained a PhD degree under co-supervision from Egypt and France from the University of Claremont-Ferrand, an Associate Professor and then a Professor of Civil Law.

He occupied administrative positions as he was appointed Head of the Civil Law Department Council, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, then Dean of the Faculty of Law.  

He supervised many PhD dissertations, and has conducted many researches. He taught in various faculties of the university, including Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Engineering, and the Department of Educational Media and Education Technology at Faculty of Specific Education.

He reviewed regulations in Saudi Arabia.

He is a member of the Arbitration Committees for the promotion of professors nationwide, a member of the Egyptian Judges' Club in Cairo, a member of the Egyptian Lawyers Association, a member of the Board of Directors of the Takaful Foundation at the Ministry of Social Solidarity, a member of the Board of Directors of the University Depository Fund, a member of the University’s Anti-Corruption Committee, a member of the Egyptian Family House Council, a member of the National Council for Women in Zagazig, a member of the university’s Disciplinary Boards, the legal investigator of Al-Arish University as well as many memberships in various committees.

He was previously seconded to the College of Law, the University of Sharjah for a period of nine years (2011-2020), during which he held the position of Head of the Public Law Department and Acting Dean of the College of Law. He received his LLB and Master's degree from the College of Law, Ain Shams University, Egypt, and Ph.D in international economics from Paris 1 University (Sorbonne). He progressed in the university where he held several positions froma teaching assistant at the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University in 1993, then as a lecturer, then as an associated professor until he obtained the rank of professor in 2013. His research interests focus on public finance, economic and tax legislations, and the environment.Dr. Al-Shafei is a member of many societies and committees such as Egyptian Association for Political Economy, Statistics and Legislationand Egypt tax society.

Dr. Al-Shafei contributed to many projects aimed at developing education, such as the Micro-electronic training court project and the establishment of the Quality Unit at the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University. He also contributed to the establishment of Master in Air and Space Law at the University of Sharjah, UAE. He has taught in many universities and higher institutes such as the Arab Academy for Transport and Technology, the Institute of Environmental Studies at Ain Shams University, and the Universities of Sharjah and Ajman in the UAE. He also supervised dozens of doctoral and master's theses, in addition to the reviewing of many scientific papers for the purpose of publication and scientific promotions. Al-Shafei participated in providing several training programs in the field of taxation and international trade in Egypt, Kuwait, Lebanon and the UAE.

Professor EL SHAZLY is an Attorney at the Egyptian Supreme Court and the Founding Partner of Al-Feshawy & El-Shazly Law firm. He has an extensive experience in the field of negotiating and drafting business contracts and he served as a legal counsel in many cases and draft legal opinions in various areas of business law matters. He is appointed as Arbitrator and legal expert in various commercial disputes mainly in the field of construction, corporate law, contract law and agency law. Prof ELSHAZLY is a qualified arbitrator and listed in the rosters of different arbitral institutions, mainly Dubai International Arbitration Center (DIAC), Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) and Qatar International Conciliation and Arbitration center (QICCA). He participates regularly as Expert Witness under International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) rules as well as London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) rules. He was also nominated as an Expert under the International Center of Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and member of Investors Disputes Settlement Center (GAFI).

Professor EL SHAZLY served as Legal Advisor to the chairman of the Financial Supervisory Authority (Egypt) and as a Legal Counsel at the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (Egypt) and was assigned as Legal Expert for international projects granted by the African Union and the European Union. He is selected as legal expert for drafting commercial related legislation for in the GCC. He started his career as a member of the Supreme Administrative court in the Egyptian State Council and he was also appointed at the public prosecutor office in Egypt. He has a hands-on experience in organizing and delivering legal training courses especially in the field of banking transactions, intellectual property, corporate governance, media law, governance and dispute resolution methods. He is a certified trainer from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Egyptian Institute of Directors (EIOD).

Concerning the scientific research, professor EL SHAZLY published around fifty peer reviewed articles in different languages (Arabic-English-French) and he continues to publish his wok in different areas of law especially corporate law, e-commerce, transportation law, arbitration and dispute resolution methods, investment law, intellectual property and capital market.  He published several scholarly books on corporate law, commercial papers and banking transactions, arbitration law and commercial law. He has been awarded the research prize in Human Rights from the city of Lyon (2007) and LexisNexis publication best author (2017).  He is member of the international law association and the Arab association for commercial and Maritime law and a Mentor in the 2nd AYA Mentoring Programme 2020 organized by the Association of Young Arbitrators (AYA).

Professor Dr. Tarek F. Riad is the Managing Partner of Tarek Riad & Partners – Legal Consultants & Attorneys at Law (Previously Kosheri, Rashed & Riad), one of the leading practitioners of commercial law and arbitration in Egypt.

Professor Dr. Riad has an LLB (1980) from Cairo Law School in addition to an LLM (1982) and SJD (1985) from Harvard Law School. Professor Dr. Riad has been a member of the Egyptian Bar since 1980 and a member of New York Bar since 1985 and speaks Arabic, English and French.

 

Professor Dr. Riad was member of the board of trustees and the chairman of the executive committee of the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) (2013 to 2019), alternate member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration (2012 to 2018), and a member of the scientific council of the ICC World Business Law Institute (2005 to 2021) and is currently a member of the Emeritus Council of the ICC Institute. Professor Dr. Riad is also a designated member of the ICSID panel of arbitrators and conciliators.

Professor Dr. Riad was lecturer of private international law at Cairo university Benisueif branch law school (1986 – 1988). He is currently professor and the head of the business and commercial law department at the German University in Cairo. Professor Dr. Riad was member of Egyptian council of state (1981 to 1985).

Professor Dr. Riad has acted as counsel for a number of multinational corporations such as Caterpillar, Lockheed Martin, Four Seasons, Philips, Colgate Palmolive, Siemens and AT & T.

Professor Dr. Riad has been appointed as expert on Egyptian law in numerous arbitrations such as ICC Case 18113/ND and in front of foreign courts such as the Commercial Court in London (Queen Bench division) as well as giving expert in front of US courts including United States District Court Central District of California- Eastern Division, United States District Court – Southern District of New York, and United States District Court Western District of Washington at Seattle, and UK and Jersey courts including the High Court of Justice, Queens Bench divisions, Commercial Court.

Professor Dr. Riad was the chairman of two subcommittees responsible for drafting the companies’ laws and the economic courts law at the economic committee of the Egyptian Supreme Policy Council. In May 2011 until June 2012. Professor Dr. Riad was appointed as a member of the Consultative Council responsible for preparing drafts laws for the Egyptian Council of Ministries.

Professor Dr. Riad has written numerous publications including two books entitled The Applicable Law in Transnational Arbitration and Egyptian Companies Law, in addition to many articles about arbitration and the legal aspects of doing business in Egypt.

Being ranked first in class of 1990, he was appointed as a demonstrator at the commercial and Maritime law department- Faculty of law Ain shams university in 1991.

Getting his master’s degree in Private law ranked first of his class, he was appointed as Assistant lecturer in the same department 1993. He was sent by the Egyptian government as a visiting scholar to Queen Mary College, University of London in 1997-1999.

After being granted a PH. D in commercial and Maritime law by Ain Shams University, he became a lecturer in the Commercial and Maritime Law department, Ain Shams University Faculty of Law in 2003.

He worked as an assistant professor in Private law department at the Bahraini Royal police academy and Applied Science university in the Kingdom of Bahrain from 2007-2010.

He is proficient in both Arabic and English languages, with good command of French language.

His experience in teaching law extends from 2004- present in both Arabic and English languages.

He lectured in arbitration in Both Cairo Regional Center for commercial arbitration and Ain shams University arbitration center.

He was a member of study tour organized by the American Bar Association to USA, Harvard University in 2016

His tenure as a managing director of Ain shams University arbitration Center in 2023 till present.

He supervised tens of PH. D thesis from 2014 till present.

Professor Jacques Mestre is the Honorary Dean of the faculty of Law of Aix-Marseille and the president of the French association of Law Doctors. He began his academic tenures in Aix-Marseille in 1974 until his appointment as Dean of the faculty in 2004. In the meantime, he presided the “Institut de Droit des Affaires” of the university from 1989 to 1999 and the “Centre de Droit Economique” from 1999 to 2014.

He was member of the Private law and Criminal sciences committee of the French national council of universities from 1983, until he took over the presidency of this committee in 1999. 

Professor Mestre has printed his mark on multiple branches of Private Law as one the most imminent professors in France and the World. Many of the most important academics, magistrates, politicians and practitioners of all Continents have studied at his hands. The most important legal publishing house of France, the LGDJ, has consecrated its 2019’s edition entitled “Mélanges en L’honneur de Jacques Mestre” to honor Professor Mestre.

He is the President of the scientific board of “Lamy Droit Civil”, the founder Publisher of the annually reedited “Lamy Sociétés Commerciales” and member of the scientific board of the “Revue Trimestrielle de Droit Commercial et Economique”.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Hassan Kassem is a Professor of Civil Law at the Faculty of Law, Alexandria University and Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science at Beirut Arab University. He obtained a Bachelor of Laws, a Diploma in Private Law, and a Diploma in Islamic Law from the Faculty of Law, University of Alexandria. Then he obtained a Diploma in Advanced Studies in Private Law and a PhD in Private Law from the University of Aix - Marseille (France).

Dr. Kassem is a member of the “Association Française des Docteurs en Droit” (AFDD), headed by Dean Jacques Mestre.

He has many general and specialized books in the field of civil law, the most recent of which is his book on “Contracts”, issued in two volumes, explaining the recent amendments to the French Contract Law and Obligations and the draft amendment to the French Civil Liability Law. His recent books also include “The New French Law of Contracts in Arabic” (translation) and “The New French Law of Obligations in Arabic” (translation). He also has many studies, research and comments on judicial rulings, the most recent of which are “Moral harm and legal person - a critical analytical reading of the judgment of the Egyptian Court of Cassation, the Civil and Commercial Circuit on 01/22/2018” and “Realism in Law between the means of legislative art and The role of the Judge”, both published in the Journal of Legal Studies - Beirut Arab University.

He participated in many international, regional and national conferences and seminars, and lectured in many academic and judicial institutions, including the Institute for Judicial Studies (Lebanon). He supervised and still supervises dozens of MA and PhD dissertations. He prepared the draft of the Unified Arab law for evidence with modern technologies, and its explanatory note, he was commissioned by the Arab Center for Legal & Judicial Research of the League of Arab States and the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice, to chair the expert committee preparing the project.

Dr. Kassem is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Legal Studies issued by the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences - Beirut Arab University.

Professor Zakaria LAGHZAOUI holds a doctoral degree in Business Law from Abdelmalek Essadi University, Tangier, Morocco.

At the professional level, Professor Zakaria LAGHZAOUI began his professional career in 2003 at the Moroccan Ministry of Economy and Finance, as Senior manager in charge of monitoring civil and commercial litigation at the “Judicial Agency of the Kingdom of Morocco”.

The outstanding professional career of Professor Zakaria LAGHZAOUI was culminated in him becoming head of the Commercial Litigation Department of the Judicial Agency of the Kingdom of Morocco, towards the beginning of 2016, in charge of handling commercial and arbitration disputes, both national and international, to which the State is a party.

Dr. Zakaria LAGHZAOUI is also Professor of “Alternative Dispute Resolution”, at the Ibn Tofeil University of Economics and Law of Kenitra, Morocco.

As an interested in arbitration and ADR, he puts all his expertise and knowledge in this area to good use by facilitating several seminars and formative courses in the topic of arbitration and mediation, including workshops held at the Institute of Finance (IDF), an institute dedicated to senior managers training.

The professional and academic experience of Professor Zakaria LAGHZAOUI also allowed him to participate in a series of national and international meetings on arbitration, particularly in the arbitration of investment disputes, mainly those organized by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (CNUDCI) in New York.

Furthermore, Dr. Zakaria LAGHZAOUI participated in numerous seminars organized by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) in Thailand and in several meetings focused on studying amendments conducted by the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), in Washington, as well as meetings of Arab Centre for Legal and Judicial Research, League of Arab States - Council of Arab Ministers of Justice.

In 2001, Counselor Dr. Khaled Ahmed Saif Sharawy joined the Public Prosecution Office in Egypt.

  In 2007, he ascended to the judiciary, where he progressed to work in the courts of first instance.

In 2011, he was appointed Head of the Public Funds Prosecution at the Alexandria Public Funds Appeal Prosecution.

In 2014, he was seconded to work as a legal advisor to the General Administration of Customs at the Ministry of Finance in the sister country of Kuwait.

  In 2019, he was promoted to advisor at the Courts of Appeal.

In 2021, he will be promoted to Vice-President of the Economic Courts of Appeal.

In addition to his judicial work, he is registered as an expert on the table of experts for capital market disputes pursuant to the Egyptian Stock Exchange Chairman’s Decision No. {54} of 2015.

Counselor Sharawy has been teaching commercial law at the Faculty of Law, Mansoura University, from 2013 until now.

He also participates in defending master’s and doctoral theses at law schools in Egypt in his field of scientific and judicial specialization.

In 2014, Counselor Sharawy obtained his PhD from the Faculty of Law, Mansoura University.

Consultant Dr. Khaled Ahmed Saif Sharawy combines his scientific and practical specialization in the areas of commercial law in general, especially the capital market and the legislation related to it, such as the law of joint stock and limited liability companies, shares, limited liability companies, and one-person companies, the law of the central deposit and registration of securities and financial instruments, the investment law, and the law. The Central Bank and the banking system, crimes of embezzlement of public money, aggression against it, and treachery, combating money laundering and terrorist financing, the Egyptian customs law, and the unified customs law of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

While working as a legal advisor to the General Administration of Customs at the Ministry of Finance in the sisterly State of Kuwait, Counselor Sharawi participated in drafting several laws related to his field of specialization.

In 2017, he received a certificate of appreciation from the Chairman of the US Advisory Group at US Customs and Border Protection for the support and advice on complex legal issues and the political process that proved its worth in drafting the Mutual Customs Assistance Agreement between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the State of Kuwait, after twenty years of negotiations.

Ehab graduated from the Faculty of Law (LLB), Cairo University then he started his career as a prosecutor for nine years until he was a District Attorney for two years. In 2010 he become a judge at the first instance courts working on  Criminal, Civil, and Commercial law. He moved to the Appellate Courts in 2019 and recently become a Vice-President.
 
During these years, Ehab has had some academic activities. He holds Criminal lawLL.M from Cairo University with Good. He was interested in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, attended lots of courses in those fields organized by The International Committee of The Red Cross which helped him to study at The International Institute of Human Rights in France in 2002. He also attended the legal English program under the supervision of the American University in Cairo. Ehab got Chevening Scholarship and holds a Corporate and Commercial LL.M from The University of Sheffield United Kingdom with Merit.  He dedicated his dissertation on Commercial Arbitration comparing the Egyptian and French judiciary to examine the extension of an arbitration agreement in the group of companies.

Judge Shalkamy’s journey commenced 2009 as an associate-at-law in a reputable law office in which it allowed him to deal with a variety of cases and obtain vast knowledge and significant experience in both arbitration and litigation fields. 

Until June 2011, he was appointed as a judge at the Egyptian Council of State where he progressed in different administrative courts till he was assigned as a legal advisor at The Egyptian Ministry of Housing, Utilities & Urban Communities in October 2020. During his work career he obtained two masters of law, legal sciences masters from Ain shams university and international comparative law from the university of Indianapolis, USA. In addition to administrative law diploma from Tanta university. Thanks to his profound experience and knowledge he is currently teaching Business Law courses to the new generation of El Sadat Academy for Management sciences and Ain Shams university. Mohamed currently works as a Judge at the Circuit of Labor Conflicts in Shiben El Kom Court of First Instance. He formerly worked as a Senior State Prosecutor for eight years in different prosecution offices. Prior to the prosecution, Mohamed worked as an Attorney at Law at Ibrachy & Dermarkar law firm. 

On the academic level, Mohamed completed two diplomas, one in International Commercial Law and the other in Public law from Ain Shames University. A Current judge at the Civil Circuit of Appeal in Red Sea Court of First Instance. Previously, a Senior State Prosecutor at the Egyptian Prosecutor General Bureau since 2012. As a State Prosecutor, he moved through different prosecution offices which allowed him to deal with a variety of cases, among which: white-collar, public properties, forgery, murder, terrorism, and financial and commercial cases. In cooperation with the National Judicial Center in Egypt and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Ali was chosen to attend several workshops on financial crimes, intellectual properties violations, cybercrimes, and money laundry.

In addition to the judicial career as a previous prosecutor and a current judge, Ali has other job experience. He commenced his career path as a junior attorney at ECITA - The Egyptian Center for International Trading Arbitration and tutored English language as a foreign language at Berlitz.

Concurrent to his professional achievements, Ali has been a permanent student. After receiving L.L.B (Bachelor of Laws) at Ain Shams University in 2010; in the next year, he completed a diploma in private law. In 2015, Ali was selected to receive the prestigious Youssef Jameel Fellowship to pursue an LLM (Master’s degree) in International and Comparative Law at The American University in Cairo. The fellowship is awarded to Egyptian nationals on the basis of outstanding academic achievement and commitment to public service. As part of his coursework, Ali spent an exchange semester at Stellenbosch University in South Africa which he completed with academic distinction. In 2018, Ali completed the LLM with honors; and published his thesis under the title of “The Judicial Resolution of the Tension between Human Rights Treaties and Shari’a Law Reservations under The Constitution of 2014.” Following the LLM, Ali was among the few chosen for the Chevening scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in the United Kingdom where he completed a MSc (Master of Science) in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Glasgow.

Judge Mohamed Bakry graduated from Ain-Shams University School of Law-English department in 2011. Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud is a faculty member at the Private International Law Division,  Faculty of Law, Menoufia University, and the Director of the English Legal Studies Section from 2018 to 2021. Counselor Ossama Hanafy is an esteemed Chief Prosecutor at the Egyptian Court of Cassation, where he leads a group of chief prosecutors within the criminal division. With over 15 years of dedicated service to the judiciary, he has played a pivotal role in investigating numerous criminal cases and adjudicating civil and family cases. His current focus centers on facilitating and assisting the Court of Cassation in reaching judgments in criminal cases.

Academically, Counselor Hanafy holds a Master’s degree in Law from Cairo University, specializing in Criminal Sciences and Private Law. Additionally, he earned a Master’s degree in International and Comparative Law (LL.M.) from the American University in Cairo. During this program, he spent a semester at Cornell University's School of Law in New York, delving into areas such as cybercrime, internet law, AI, data protection, and associated legal issues.

Beyond his legal practice, Counselor Hanafy is an experienced trainer, certified by the School of Continuing Education at the American University in Cairo. His expertise extends to his role in the technical office at the National Center for Judicial Studies, where he prepared and implemented training programs for judges, military prosecutors, military judges, and Ministry of Justice experts. He is also a lecturer at the National Center for Judicial Studies, covering subjects like criminal investigation, cybercrime, judicial psychology, and judicial research methodology.

In 2022, Counselor Hanafy joined the Cybercrime Investigation Professional Master’s team at the Faculty of Law, the British University in Egypt (BUE). Judge Ahmed Nasser has a diverse educational and practical background. He began his legal career by obtaining a Bachelor of Laws degree from Cairo University, English Department, with a grade of very good with honors, then he obtained a master’s degree in public law from the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University. He is currently enrolled in the Master’s program in law and economics at the University of Hamburg, Germany for the academic year 2023/2024. In addition, he is a PhD candidate in civil law at the Faculty of Law, Cairo University, and his thesis is entitled “Legal Provisions on the Personal Data of Minors in the Digital Age.”

On the practical level, he began his work in 2018 as a lawyer in the international commercial arbitration department in prestigious international law firms, then he joined the academic field as an assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the British University, then Judge Ahmed Nasser was appointed to work in the State Council and joined the body of commissioners of the Administrative Courts.

Ahmed Nasser’s experience in the field of international arbitration allowed him to deal with many important cases, and to obtain extensive knowledge and great experience in the field of international commercial arbitration, investment arbitration, gas and oil disputes, and communications disputes.

 Ahmed Nasser’s teaching experience at the Faculty of Law at the British University in Egypt also allowed him to participate His knowledge and experience with law students, as he taught bachelor’s degree students in Egyptian civil law, private international law, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. He also participated in teaching graduate students in the professional master’s program in cybercrime investigations on topics such as cybercrime and financial technology. , digital forensics, digital intellectual property rights, e-commerce.

Ahmed Nasser also showed a strong research interest in various legal fields. He has authored articles and research papers on topics such as medical technology and its impact on the human body between prohibition and permissibility (advanced prosthetic limbs, enhancement implants/brain chips), automated administrative decisions and discretionary authority of the administrative body, sovereign bonds in Egypt, and biohacking. His works have been published in magazines and portals. Prestigious publications, including the Egyptian Legislation Portal and the Information and Decision Support Center of the Cabinet, the Journal of Law and Technology at the Faculty of Law, the British University, the Journal of Legal and Economic Sciences at the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University.

In addition to his academic and research activities, he participated as a speaker in many training programs and workshops, where he shared his experience in the summer school on digital evidence held by the Faculty of Law at the British University. He also participated as a guest speaker in the international conference on Moroccan administrative courts, where he discussed the role of the administrative judiciary in Creating legal principles in light of policies related to digital transformation.

Dr. Nihal Elbanna
