Abstract

Blockchain has the distinction of affirming the concept of trust through an intelligent digital system. This study deals with the authenticity of the blockchain in the field of digital proof, and its application in the scope of copyright verification. This imposes many questions and problems about the reality of blockchain technology, the idea of smart contracts within the framework of this technology, and to what extent are the technical and legal conditions applicable to both electronic writing and electronic signature in this technology? How can this technology play an effective role in enhancing the proof of copyright on its digital works?

Through this study, we have concluded that the blockchain has the conditions for electronic writing, in terms of readability, continuity, and the availability of technical controls that ensure its integrity. It also provides the ability to attribute writing to its editor at the time of its creation through the encryption mechanism that uses the “timestamp” process. Also, some of the conditions for electronic signature are also available in this technology, while some of these conditions are facing difficulty.
